How common are husband/wife writing teams?

I received a special package in the mail today: the first paperback version of our book, "Death Among The Stacks: The Body in the Law Library," which has just arrived hot off the press.  This was the first book I ever wrote with my husband.  Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I'd be writing murder/mysteries, let alone be writing them with my husband.  I'm an English Literature Major and spent years reading long Dickens' novels and complicated essays like Mathew Arnold's "Culture and Anarchy".  I didn't even read mystery novels; but my husband and I both like to watch the PBS Masterpiece/Mystery series. 

We fell in love with the Agatha Christie stories, so I set out to write a mystery about what would happen if someone was murdered in a library by electronic compact shelving.  It's not as far fetched as it sounds: I actually witnessed someone almost getting crushed to death when they malfunctioned.  Even quiet libraries have drama and office politics can get really dramatic, especially when the librarians start pointing their fingers at each other when the police come asking questions.  We tried to make it humorous and a bit of a farce.  Just as in the conclusion in "Murder on the Orient Express," we have our detective gather all the suspects into one room and reveal each person's potential motives in front of everybody else, with the final "big reveal" of "who dunnit" coming at the end.  We asked my niece Allison to pose for the cover as a "sshing librarian".

This humorous, PG-rated mystery about a teenager sleuth, who's very similar to Nancy Drew, is written especially for women baby boomers who grew up reading and loving the Nancy Drew series.  This book takes place in the French Quarter of New Orleans.  Nancy, her father and friends go there on vacation, and the concierge at their hotel dies mysteriously in Oak Alley Plantation.  This is the first murder case Nancy has taken on, and she's only 16. Nancy's fun and funky Aunt Audrey joins the investigation, and they get some help from surprising real life characters.  When Nancy's not having café au lait and beignets at the Café du Monde, she's being chased down Bourbon Street by a man in a hoodie who suspects she knows about Agent Q. Come ride the St. Charles streetcar through the Garden District, eat at Brennan's, listen to live jazz in Jackson Square, and learn about voodoo and ghosts with Nancy in her latest adventure.

This murder mystery, about a daughter's search for the truth behind her father's murder, is an homage to the books of T. Jefferson Parker that describe crime in Orange County, California. Focusing on Tustin in the early 1970's and 1990's, this book brings back the bygone days of tractor showrooms; hippies and head shops in Laguna Beach; and a packing house called "The Sunkist Cathedral".

This humorous, PG-rated mystery about a teenager sleuth, who's very similar to Nancy Drew, is written especially for women baby boomers who grew up reading and loving the Nancy Drew series. In this gumbo of a whodunit, what starts out as a vacation to New Orleans for Nancy Keene, ends up being a murder/mystery when a docent at Oak Alley Plantation is found dead when Nancy's on a tour there.
Nancy's fun and funky Aunt Audrey, who loves sleuthing as much as her niece does, joins her in the search for the killer and they get some help from surprising real life characters. When Nancy's not having beignets at the Café du Monde or riding the streetcar to the Garden District, she's being chased down Bourbon Street by a man in a hoodie.
Nancy is not adverse to using voodoo to reach the spirit of the murdered docent, Evangeline, and discovers that there really are such things as ghosts.
