Fun Story about Raising a Jack Russell Terrier Puppy

Our First Year Raising a Jack Russell

Terrier (and then some)

Have you ever wanted a Jack Russell Terrier like the ones from the TV shows Wishbone and Frasier or the movies Mask and My Dog Skip? Do you think you can handle such a high-energy dog?

If you believe that you're up to the task, come along with us as we follow our new Jack Russell puppy through his first year and watch him learn and grow to become part of our world.

Read about how we tried to prevent him chewing our walls and linoleum floor. Witness our horror after he almost overdosed on baby aspirin, caused a gas leak, and was in danger of being swooped up by a hawk. We hope that you learn from our mistakes and successes in bringing up this adorable, funny, intelligent, and always-entertaining breed of wonderful little dogs.

Nancy Drew and James Bond

This is a funny story about a teenage sleuth who goes to London with her father and is delighted when she discovers that Daniel Craig (AKA James Bond) is staying at their hotel.  I was inspired to write this book by my love of Nancy Drew books and my love of London.  On vacation in London a few years back, James Bond actually was staying at the same hotel as my husband and I were.  At the time, the actor who played Bond was Pierce Brosnan.  Just like Nancy Keene in my story of The Stolen Mask, I was settling into our upper bedroom when I looked out the window and saw Agent 007 drinking champagne in the hotel's garden. I was as star-struck as any teenage school girl would be.

In this story, Nancy opens the door of her hotel room to retrieve the morning paper and is shocked when Daniel Craig opens the door next to hers to do the same thing.  He is only wearing a towel around his waist.  He sees her in her flannel nightgown and self-consciously looks down at his towel to make sure nothing's showing.  When he catches her looking in the same place, he winks at her and goes back into his room.  Nancy feels her first stirrings of passion and is pleased that she has an opportunity to come to his aid when someone steals his BAFTA award out of his room.

I am a total Anglophile and love all things British--its literature, music, history, and art. I love writing about places I've traveled to, so in this story, I have Nancy sight-seeing at some of my favorite destinations in and around London.  She goes on a Jane Austen pilgrimage, visits Buckingham Palace, shops at Harrods, and pays a visit to the Sherlock Holmes museum.  Nancy is very precocious and has read a lot, so when she tries to solve the case of the stolen mask, she channels Agatha Christie, Sherlock Holmes, and Rumpole of the Bailey.

This book is one of my favorite ones I've written and I hope my readers will like it, too.  So, come with Nancy Keene on a trip to London where she meets James Bond and even gets to walk the red carpet with him at the Oscars when she's back home   A bit of a stretch?  Of course, but a girl can't help but dream.

A Las Vegas Cozy Mystery Excerpt

Here's an excerpt from this humorous cozy mystery about a 63-year-old erotic romance writer who goes to the Las Vegas Adult Entertainment Expo where her agent is killed:

I needed my husband’s assistance with the corset.  He had to truss me up like Scarlett O’Hara had been when her maid helped her get dressed for her rendezvous with Ashley Wilkes. After many attempts, my husband finally found my sweet spot: I looked half-way decent and could still breathe. I put on a wide velvet collar that had a large ring dangling from it. It was the first time my husband had ever seen it and he asked, “What do you do with the ring?”

“You attach a leash and take me for a walk.”

“Sorry, hon.  No can do.”

I rolled my eyes at him and said, “You don’t have to do it.  I was just joking.”

“I’m not a big fan of all this sadomasochism stuff.”

“Neither am I, honey; but it’s what everyone wants to read."

With that, I grabbed a pile of my books and headed out to the convention. My hubby escorted me there; and after kissing me goodbye said, “Good luck. I hope you sell lots of books!  And be careful with those horny fans of yours!  If anyone gives you any trouble, call me!”

“Thanks, honey,” I answered and kissed him on the cheek.

“Be careful,” he reminded me again.

“I promise I’ll be.  Don’t forget to feed the cat,” I told him and opened the door, took a deep breath, and prepared myself for the surreal world of the Vegas Adult Entertainment Expo.

Before I started feeling too above-it-all and self-righteous, I had to remind myself that I was a player in this circus.  Peddling my X-rated romance novels, I was part of the Sex Industry.  Let’s face it—I sold smut, I told myself.

Mad Men

Are you sorry to see "Mad Men" come to an end? I am and I wrote this romance novel a few years ago after binge watching the show. The librarian in the novel falls in love with a detective, who bears a striking resemblance to Don Draper, whom she met while on a double date at a mystery dinner show where someone was actually murdered--definitely not part of the act. She gets herself mixed up with some dangerous people when she goes undercover--in spite of his warnings--to help him solve the crime. Humorous and sexy, this novel is for readers 18+

New Orleans with Nancy

This humorous, PG-rated mystery about a teenager sleuth, who's very similar to Nancy Drew, is written especially for women baby boomers who grew up reading and loving the Nancy Drew series. It takes place in the French Quarter of New Orleans where Nancy, along with her father and friends, go on vacation.  When the concierge at their hotel dies mysteriously, Nancy is hot on the trail to find out whodunit.  Her fun and funky Aunt Audrey joins the investigation, and they get help from surprising real life characters.  When Nancy's not having café au lait and beignets at the Café du Monde, she's being chased down Bourbon Street by a man in a hoodie. Come ride the St. Charles streetcar through the Garden District, eat at Brennan's, listen to live jazz in Jackson Square, and learn about voodoo and ghosts with Nancy in her latest adventure.

Do you like romance novels?

Have you ever been to a murder mystery dinner?  My husband and I went to one and loved it.  Afterwards, we asked ourselves, "What if a real murder happened during one of these performances?" That was our inspiration to write this novel.  We've also been watching  a lot of "Mad Men" lately, so we decided to have our two lovers look like Don Draper and Joan from the show.

The eBook is only $2.99
The Paperback is only $7.59
